HistoryEstablished in 1970 in Portland, Oregon, the Southwest Parent-Child Collective is a vibrant co-operative preschool run by parents and staffed by experienced teachers. Hundreds of children have passed through our doors in the past 50 years. Many still come back to visit. Some graduates have even returned to enroll their own children!

PeopleAll of our teachers have extensive training in early childhood education. The teachers work with parents to guide children in developmentally appropriate activities including dramatic play, art, music, construction and block play, manipulative toys, co-operative games, storytelling, cooking, creative movement, and outdoor free play.

CommunityThe co-op model is a wonderful experience for kiddos and parents alike. While the focus is on the child development process, parents also experience a development process, learning from the teachers and other parents how to handle different situations. The co-op is a true community focused on supporting children and parents throughout the preschool years.
